Derma-Planing

Derma-planing is the ultimate glow treatment. Derma-planing is a super effective method of physical exfoliation. It’s a treatment where your therapist administering the treatment uses a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently scrape off any dead skin cells on the surface layer of your skin, along with the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). In addition derma-planing is a painless procedure that leaves the skin more silky smooth than any other exfoliation technique due to the hair removal process.

A Derma-plane facial is a safe and pain-free procedure for removing dead skin cells, it eliminates soft facial hair that traps dirt and oils, it promotes smoother skin, reduces the appearance of acne scars and diminishes the look of fine lines. The skin will be left smooth and naturally radiant.

Over time, dead skin cells build up on the skin making your complexion appear dull & flaky. This build-up of dead skin cells can cause breakouts. This is because dead skin cells clog pores and hair follicles creating a breeding ground for bacteria.

Regular exfoliation is essential to help promote an even, healthy glowing skin. Derma-planing is a form of mechanical exfoliation. It is often combined with a gentle enzyme skin peel, which is a form of chemical exfoliation i.e. products that use a combination of natural exfoliating ingredients to breakdown the dead skin cells and gently lift the dead skin away to reveal younger more youthful skin cells underneath.

The results of a skin peel is brighter and smoother skin. When combined with a derma-planing facial, the results are enhanced further.

There are many benefits to derma-planing:

• You will use less skincare products because the dead skin cells are not absorbing the ingredients before they get to where they need to on your skin which means it saves you using products excessively and ensures you get the full benefit from your skin care.

• Your skincare products will also be more effective, since the product isn’t being blocked by dead skin cells and can penetrate the skin faster

The results can last up to four weeks, so you can have this as a one off treatment or better still as a regular treatment. We can advise you on what skincare products to use in between treatments.

Before your first Derma-planing treatment a full and thorough consultation is carried out in order to inform you of what the treatment entails and to establish your skin concerns. Derma-planing is suitable for all skin types, male and female except those with active pustular acne. 

DERMA-PLANING is a painless procedure which can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face. First, your therapist will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, we will pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a small, sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.

After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and you may have slight erythema (reddening of the skin), so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyper-pigmentation.

DERMA-PLANING removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment. This procedure can be done once a month.

A full and thorough consultation is carried out before your treatment begins. Your facial will include a gentle foam cleanse, this is to remove any surface impurities and make-up and also to help regulate the PH levels in your skin. An Enzyme exfoliating peel is applied to the face, nose & décolleté to dissolve dead skin cells and refine the skin. The application of a mild enzyme peel is optional.

Once the skin is clean and free from impurities the Derma-plane exfoliation is carried-out. Following the procedure an intensive, vitamin drenched, cool moisture mask is applied to strengthen the skins immune system. Whilst the cooling mask takes effect we will apply LED light therapy to help sooth and heal the skin. Following the removal of the cooling mask a deep-penetrating SPF 30 moisturiser is applied for post procedure protection.
